A Closer Look at Minnesota: Five Mini Insights
August 8, 2024
It’s a state that doesn’t usually get a lot of election-year attention – but right now all eyes are on Minnesota.
Since everyone is looking, we figured now would be a good time to share a little more about what you’re looking at! After all, we at OUTFRONT are something of the experts on Minnesota. Every week our out of home canvases reach 94% of the Minneapolis-St. Paul area, where the majority of the state’s residents live (SOURCE: Geopath). So, without further ado, here are five things you should know about the North Star State.
Minnesota Mini Insight 1: We Love It Here
Out of the 50 states, Minnesota was ranked the fourth best place to live by U.S. News. A few of the reasons are our strong economy, natural resources, range of seasons, and high-quality healthcare.
Minnesota Mini Insight 2: It’s Nice Outside
Some call Minnesota “The Land of 10,000 Lakes,” but the actual number is more than 11,500. There is nothing more quintessentially Minnesotan than heading “Up North” or going to “The Lake” during the summer.
Minnesota Mini Insight 3: Hockey Is Everything…
Ice hockey is at the heart of community in Minnesota, much the same way football is in Texas. "We're a state that doesn't sit indoors in the winter. We get outside,” University of Minnesota hockey coach Bob Motzko said. “The lakes freeze over and it's just part of our culture.” From youth leagues to the NHL and professional women’s hockey, this sport is, as Coach Motzko said, part of the fabric of the state.
Minnesota Mini Insight 4: …But It’s Not the Only Thing
Minnesota boasts seven major league sports franchises in total. Beyond hockey, there’s Major League Baseball’s Twins, the NFL’s Vikings, Minnesota United FC for the other kind of football, and basketball, both men’s (Timberwolves) and women’s (Lynx). Our teams fill state residents with immense highs and lows each season.
Minnesota Mini Insight 5: Serious Cultural Cachet
Between and beyond the two metropolitan areas that comprise the Twin Cities, Minnesota celebrates a diverse arts and culture scene boasting a strong lineup of events and celebrations each year, such as the artsy Minnesota Fringe Festival, family-favorite Perham Turtle Fest, and WE Fest, America’s largest country music camping festival.
OUTFRONT’s out of home coverage is the top way to reach the majority of Minnesotans. Our traditional static billboards and digital out of home can reach consumers as they travel downtown, to the suburbs, and out to the rural lake country areas, while advertising on the Minneapolis Skyway puts local and national brands at the center of the action.
Bottom line? Minnesota’s a nice place to advertise. Contact us and we’ll tell you all about why.
